Zambia & Life Insurance

Zambia

Insurers tend to be a bit cautious about journeys that you have outside of Europe, North America, New Zealand and Australia. Zambia will generally fall within the list of notifiable countries that you are planning to travel to, when you apply for life insurance in the UK

Life insurance for people traveling to Zambia may be available at normal terms if you are planning a short-term trip. For insurers, this typically means a holiday of less than 30 days or a business trip of less than a week.

To check your options for life insurance we will ask you:

  • When are you traveling to Zambia?
  • Are you going for work, to visit family, or on holiday?
  • How long will you be in Zambia?
  • Have you been to Zambia in the last 3 years?

If your travel to Zambia involves multiple trips per year and/or stays of 30 days or more, some insurers may offer life insurance at non-standard terms. You can find that some insurers could decline your application for life insurance. Insurers will be particularly interested in the reason for your visit and your specific destination in Zambia.

If you have travelled to Zambia frequently in the past few years, some insurers might require a Hepatitis and HIV test before fully accepting your application. The requirement to have these tests can understandably be upsetting to some people and we will do our best to find a life insurance application route that is supportive of your feelings.

Our award winning advisers are here to search the market for you, so you don’t have to, to make sure that you get the best life insurance cover.

British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.

Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.

Critical illness cover for people traveling to Zambia will be assessed similarly to life insurance. If your trip is a short holiday, you may be able to get critical illness cover at normal terms.

Insurers regularly update their stance on the risks associated with travel to different countries, and the terms you are offered will reflect Zambia’s risk rating at the time of your application.

If you visit Zambia frequently and/or stay in the country for more than 30 days at a time, insurers may offer critical illness cover at non-standard terms, and some may even decline your application.

Our advisers know which insurers to place your application with so that you get the best terms for critical illness cover.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.

If you are traveling to Zambia, income protection may be available at normal terms, depending on why you will be staying there and how long you will be staying in Zambia for.

Insurers will be particularly interested if you are traveling to Zambia for work-related business. If you’re planning to stay in the country for more than 30 days or taking multiple trips within the next year, they may offer cover with an increased premium or decline your application for income protection.

It is really key with income protection that you are seen as a UK resident and your working pattern and location will be taken into consideration for this.

Our expert advisers will listen to your circumstances and let you know the best way to protect your income.
