When you apply for life insurance, travel to Syria usually needs to be detailed in your application. The options that you have will depend on a few things.
Our advisers will ask you:
- When are you travelling to Syria?
- Are you travelling to Syria for work, a holiday or to visit family?
- How long will you be in Syria for?
When you are visiting Syria for a short period of time such as for a holiday or to visit family your application should be accepted at standard rates. This is means the normal premium and no exclusions.
When travelling and working in Syria life insurance applications for military personnel will often see policy premiums increased.
You are usually able to claim back the extra premium that is paid due to their occupation in many circumstances. Please visit our Armed Forces pages for additional information.
Our advisers will find the right insurer to match your travel and get you the life insurance that you need.
British citizens who have moved abroad can often still access life insurance and critical illness cover in the UK. There are specific rules that you must follow to be eligible for new life insurance and critical illness policies, and we are here to strip out the jargon and get you the cover that you need.
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness insurance for people travelling to Syria might be available at normal terms, if your visit is short. In insurance terms short usually means less than 30 days for a holiday or less than 7 days or work.
Armed forces personnel applying for critical illness cover will need to detail any intended deployments in the future, this includes travel to Syria.
It is likely that the policy will be accepted with either a critical illness exclusion or occupational exclusion. A critical illness exclusion will probably include the removal of the conditions loss of limbs, coma and traumatic head injury from the claimable illnesses set.
Alternatively an occupational exclusion might be offered, meaning that any claim made on the policy that is a direct result of your occupation will not be approved.
Our advisers will find the right critical illness insurer for you.
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection insurance for anyone travelling to Syria could be available on the standard market, depending upon your reason for travel and how long you will be in the country for.
You could be asked where you will be staying in Syria (general public, army base) and your working routines whilst there.
Our advisers will find the right income protection policy to match your work and your travel.
