Caving

Caving is quite a popular pastime where people explore underground, either on foot or by using specialist equipment to reach certain places.

Sometimes caving has little bearing on a life insurance application, but there are times that it can require extra research.

When you speak to our advisers we will ask you:

  • How often are you caving each year?
  • Are you part of a group or solo caving?
  • Do you need to abseil into the cave?
  • Are you going into any underwater caves?
  • Are you going outside the UK to do caving?

Caving life insurance is generally available at standard terms if you are doing this as an every now and then hobby.

If you go caving quite regularly it is possible that some insurers would want to offer your life insurance at special terms. This would be an increase to the premium due to the caving.

Cave diving itself is considered on an individual basis as the sport is seen as a more dangerous aspect of caving.

Our advisers will help find the right insurer for you to get you the best terms for life insurance.

Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.

Cavers critical illness cover can sometimes be arranged at standard terms if the caving trips aren’t too often.

If you are caving regularly you might find that some insurers offer the policy with an exclusion for any critical illness caused as a direct result of your caving.

Our award winning advisers are here to find the right insurer so that you get the best terms for critical illness cover.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.

Income protection for cavers may be available at normal rates depending upon the insurer that you choose.

The policies that are available to you may have exclusions if you have had injuries in the past. Things like recent broken bones, pulled muscles or back pain, can potentially be excluded from your policy.

Our expert advisers are here to find the right income protection policy to support you and your hobby.

To be able to go caving, an individual must be fit and healthy. Physical strength and mental agility are key to navigating the cave environment.

By leading a healthy lifestyle, cavers may find that a specific healthy living insurance policy works for them.

This type of insurance can provide practical financial rewards and lower premiums for being healthy. You can find out more on our healthy living page.

Do you have plans to go caving abroad? We work alongside a specialist travel broker who can help you find the cover you are looking for. You can get your no obligation quotation through our travel insurance page.
