Bricklayers & Life Insurance
Life insurance for bricklayers is usually available at normal terms with insurers based within the UK.
To help you find the right insurer for you we will ask you:
- What is the average height that you work at?
- What is the largest height that you will work at?
- How much of your working week is doing manual, admin or supervisory work?
- Do you work outside of the UK?
If you regularly work at heights above 40 feet you will need to detail this to the insurer in your application. Working at heights can affect the terms that you are offered for life insurance.
Our advisers are trained to find the right insurer for you, by understanding how the insurance market is working right now. Get in touch to get your no obligation quotation.
Bricklayers & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness insurance for bricklayers is often accepted at standard rates with most UK insurers.
Working at significant heights will need to be detailed on your application to the insurer, so that they can fully assess the potential risks of your occupation.
Bricklayers & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection for bricklayers can be placed with a few insurance providers within the UK. The key thing to be aware of is that being a bricklayer is a very manual job, so for income protection there is a higher risk of having an illness or injury that will stop you from being able to do your job. This means that we need to be selective over which insurer we apply to for your income protection, to get the best terms possible.
You should ensure that your application is submitted with an own occupation definition, which will mean that any claim you make will be assessed on your ability to work as a bricklayer. You can have income protection policies that will assess your claim based upon your ability to do similar jobs or any job at all (suited occupation and any occupation, respectively). However these are more difficult to secure a successful claim with and you should aim for a policy with an own occupation definition.
Bricklayers income protection policies are available with deferment periods of 1 day, 1 week, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 13 weeks, 26 weeks and 52 weeks. This means the amount of time that you must wait from the point of being unable to work, before the benefit claim is paid to you. Factors such as savings, employment benefits and your budget for the policy will help determine which of these deferments is most suited to your needs.
Our financial advisers regularly help clients explore the best options for income protection based upon these factors, so please feel free to call us on 0800 567 7450 and use our advice.
