Wolfram Syndrome & Life Insurance
When you apply for life insurance, insurers usually want to know information about your health, especially any long term conditions that you have.
Wolfram syndrome is not specifically listed in the insurer’s application sets, but, it’s very likely that it will come up somewhere. If you’re answering questions for a life insurance application with mainstream insurers and you haven’t found anywhere to disclose your condition, double check!
We are here to make sure that your life insurance application is answered in the right way and make sure that it goes to the best insurer for you.
To get things started we will ask you:
- When was your diagnosis of Wolfram Syndrome confirmed?
- What symptoms do you experience?
- What medications do you take?
It is quite likely that a life insurance policy for you will be offered at non-standard terms. This means that the insurer has decided to increase the premium, due to your existing health conditions. This is never a positive thing to hear. But, life insurance is much cheaper than people think and when these increases happen it’s often not as bad as expected.
The best life insurance provider for you will depend upon the symptoms you experience due to the Wolfram Syndrome. Insurers often take your ability to work and doing day to day things, as a bit of a guide as to how much a condition is affecting you.
Wolfram syndrome specifically affects a person’s eyes and it might be that this hasn’t happened much to you yet, or it could be that you have lost significant vision now. We are able to provide you with quotations and our recommendation in recorded audio format that you can keep, if that would be better for you.
Our expert advisers are to make sure that your life insurance policy is placed with the best insurer for you.
Wolfram Syndrome & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Unfortunately it is unlikely that you will be able to arrange critical illness cover, when you have Wolfram Syndrome. With potential involvement of the eyesight, hearing, kidney function and more, there are many claimable conditions on a critical illness policy that are linked to these symptoms.
There are specialist policies that you can potentially look at that can insure you for diagnosis of cancer. These types of policies exclude claims relating to pre-existing conditions and it is essential that you feel confident that you understand the terms and conditions on offer.
Our award winning advisers are here to make sure that you get the right insurer to match you and your health.
Wolfram Syndrome & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
It is not likely that you will be able to access a traditional full income protection policy, due to your condition. Income protection is a policy that generally excludes anything related to pre-existing conditions that you have. As there are so many areas of the body that can be affected by Wolfram Syndrome, you will find that most insurers will not be able to consider an income protection application from you.
There are some specialist income replacement policies that you might be able to access. These policies tend to insure you for 12-24 months per claim and will exclude claims relating to pre-existing conditions.
Our advisers are here to make sure that you get the best insurance policy to protect your income.

Common Questions
Hi, it’s lovely to hear from you. Income protection can be very tricky to arrange when you have a long term health condition. The insurers usually exclude claims relating to health conditions that you already have. With Wolfram Syndrome there are quite a few areas of the body that can be affected and the insurers often decline income protection, as they think it’s unfair to offer a policy where they are putting so many exclusions on.
There are some specialist policies that you can access that can potentially cover claims relating to the Wolfram Syndrome, but there are quite strict eligibility criteria to access these. I will ask one of my team to get in touch with you and discuss the options.
