Liver Cancer & Life Insurance

Liver Cancer & Life Insurance

Being told that you have cancer is one of the biggest challenges that anyone can face. It can often be a time when you start to think about the future will hold for you and your loved ones.

For some people this can mean that they start to think about options for life insurance.

The most comprehensive life insurance policies usually ask you about your medical history, including liver cancer. We know that talking about your cancer can be hard, but our team of advisers are trained and on hand to guide you through this process with care and support.

To get things started we will ask you:

  • When did you receive your liver cancer diagnosis?
  • What was the stage of the liver cancer?
  • What was the grade of the liver cancer?
  • What treatment have you undergone for liver cancer (e.g. chemotherapy or radiotherapy)?
  • Are you now fully recovered from liver cancer and don’t need any more treatment?
  • When did you last receive treatment for liver cancer?

We do need to ask you these questions as they’ll help us find the best insurer for your circumstances. Each question is important in making sure we get you the right cover.

When you have had liver cancer you will find that most insurances will only be able to consider your application for life insurance once the liver cancer has been removed and you have completed all treatment.

It is quite likely that for some time life insurance options for you will be offered at an increased premium. The longer the time has been since you have finished your treatment for liver cancer, the better the options for life insurance will be.

If your liver cancer was caused by another cancer, then the insurer will also want to know details of the primary cancer while assessing your life insurance application.

Our expert advisers are to make sure that your life insurance policy is placed with the best insurer for you.

Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.

You might find you are able to get critical illness cover if your liver cancer was early stage and your diagnosis happened some time ago. If this option is available to you it is likely that the insurer will place a full cancer exclusion on your critical illness policy.

It is quite likely that most mainstream insurers in the UK will not be able to offer critical illness cover if you have had liver cancer.

Our award winning advisers are here to make sure that you get the right insurer to match you and your health.

Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.

You might be able to arrange income protection once some time has passed since your diagnosis and treatment for liver cancer. You will find that most insurers will exclude claims relating to cancer on the policy.

It is quite likely that the best options for income protection for you will, are those that can be arranged by an employer for their employees.

Our advisers are here to make sure that you get the best insurance policy to protect your income.

Are you going on holiday? It’s always a good idea to make sure that you have good travel insurance in place. You can find out more about getting a quote on our travel insurance page.

Common Questions

Hi, thank you for getting in touch, I hope that you are ok. When you actively have cancer the options for life insurance change. You will often find that the life insurance will not cover claims relating to cancer until the life insurance has been active for 12 months, some policies will be longer than this. Let’s arrange a time to chat so that we can talk about what is available now and how long it will be before more options become available, so that you can decide what feels right for you.
