I am so pleased to be able to share that I have been asked to sit on the British Insurance Brokers’ Association’s Signposting and Governance Committee.
Representing protection intermediaries, my role will be to report in any thoughts on potential opportunities to improve access to insurance, specifically signposting.
I will also be reporting any concerns that I have into the group, which is represented by a broad range of experts within the general insurance and travel insurance markets, trade organisations, insurers, charities and government representatives.
Signposting is something that I hold very close to my heart, as I have been the consumer that has been declined insurance due to my health, I know how awful that feels. That is why Cura is dedicated to helping people with higher ‘risks’ to get insurance.
Signposting is not stealing clients from other advisers, it is taking the step to truly do right by the people that have come to you for help. We have hundreds of advisers introducing to Cura, because our processes are very transparent and we get the job done.
We also signpost our clients to specialists when they need help outside of our specialism. If you need support for pensions, investments, mortgages, private medical insurance, travel insurance, public liability or anything else, we can help direct you to other firms that can help.
I want to be very clear that I will have no say so in the approval process of any firm that applies to be registered on BIBA’s signposting list. I will be involved in giving my thoughts on the approval process and reviewing procedures as we go forward, but I will not have sight of applications from other firms.
I am delighted to have been given this opportunity and I will do my best to make sure that signposting becomes an integral part of improving access to insurance. You can read more about this, my thoughts and those of Caroline Barr, Graeme Trudgill and Johnny Timpson at BIBA.
