Insurers are having to be highly reactive to the risks that coronavirus presents. Even though we are a few months into the pandemic, that is very little time in the insurance world when it comes to making decisions. There is no long-term data for them to work on.
But, that doesn’t mean that decisions to close their doors to people with some health conditions is ok.
We are finding that some insurers are not accepting applications for insurance from people living with HIV, diabetes and things like Parkinson’s disease. There are also some cases where people that have been recovered from cancer and heart attacks for many years, are being refused cover.
This isn’t all insurers and there are still options for many people. The need to research the market fully to access insurance for people with health conditions, is more important than ever.
