Friends Life have developed access to some of the worlds top leading doctors if you have one of their Protect+ Life or Critical Illness insurance policies. Working with Best Doctors, Friends Life have secured an invaluable addition to their already impressive Life and Critical Illness Insurance contracts.
What do I get?
For an additional £4 per month on top of your base insurance premium you and any eligible children can have access to the following global medical treatment:
- Cancer treatment, (including malignant, in-situ and pre-malignant cancers)
- Coronary artery by-pass surgery
- Heart valve replacement or repair
- Neurosurgery (e.g. benign tumour on the brain or spinal cord)
- Live-donor organ transplant
- None marrow transplant (e.g. leukaemia or genetic blood disorders)
Global Treatment will pay for:
- An expert second medical opinion
- Treatment by a specialist in your field of illness
- Hospitalisation costs
- Travel and accommodation costs for the duration of any overseas hospitalisation that your child requires
- £100 per day cash allowance for hospitalisation overseas (up to 60 days)
- Up to £50,000 medication costs on return to the UK (including medications not funded or only partially funded by the NHS)
How does it compare?
The choice is yours, however Global Treatment benefit can be used up to a value of £1 million per insured person each year, with a maximum value of £2 million of treatment across the policy lifetime.
Obviously we would all hope that you would never need to make a claim on a policy like this but on the off chance that one of the named policy holders fall seriously ill (with one of the covered conditions), this additional cover could be beneficial to your family.
Before taking out the additional Global Treatment on the Friends Life policy you should consider if this is a benefit that you require as it will cost an additional £4 to the base policy premium. It should also be noted that the £4 premium for the Global Treatment benefit is reviewable and may change in the future.
For a typical 35 year old non-smoker the following premiums may be available for Life and Critical Illness Cover, based upon a sum assured of £250,000 over 20 years:
Policy | Base premium | With Global Treatment |
---|---|---|
Life Insurance | £17.18 | £21.18 |
Life and Critical Illness Insurance | £78.93 | £82.83 |
Please note that we use a range of providers whose products may be more suitable for your needs. If you would like to discuss your Life, Critical Illness and Income Protection needs please contact one of our advisers on 0800 567 7450.
