Getting to know us better – June 2022 recap
We are now into summer and many of our team have been jetting off on their well deserved holidays after a busy first half of 2022. As always, all of our staff have been working hard to find the all important protection insurance for our clients. Whether it’s life insurance for a young family, income protection for someone starting out in their career or inheritance and gift planning, we are here and helping people to secure their financial futures.
Helping others and giving back is at the heart of what we do. Our donation of the month for June was to MoneyWeb, who competed in the Inflatable UK 5K event to raise money for Saint Catherine’s Hospice in Scarborough.

I have been with Cura for coming up to 12 years!!!! I love the satisfaction I get from the job, we help so many people who have struggled to get insurance or been wrongly told they are uninsurable and there is nothing better than telling them we can get them the insurance they need and want.
Outside of work I love to spend time with my friends and family. I have an 8 year old daughter so a large part of my time outside of work hours is spent on running around from one after school activity to the next. On weekends I love nothing more than going for a walk with my daughter, the other half and the dog and the large amount of DIY that never seems to end!
What’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
I have been to some rather interesting places in my time at sea but in all honesty I loved Disneyworld when I went as a teen and I am looking forward to going back in a few years when my daughter is old enough to appreciate it
Summer or Winter?
Summer but I do look forward to Winter and cozy nights in front of the log burner, although this only lasts about 8 weeks before I have had enough!
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
In the Merchant Navy or a midwife. I was in the merchant Navy for 6 years on the Navigation side!
If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Belter by Gerry Cinnamon
What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?
Spending time with my family and Friends
Case study
A woman in her early 40s came to us needing protection insurance to protect her mortgage. She approached Cura just over 10 years after having a TIA. The TIA was found to be caused by a patent foramen ovale (PFO) which was then corrected by surgery that fully resolved the hole.
We arranged two policies for her. One being a life insurance policy covering her for £415,000 for 27 years, with a premium of less than £42. We also arranged an income protection policy covering her until she reaches the age of 68. This covers her for £1,800 per month with a monthly premium of just short of £139. The income protection policy came with an exclusion of ‘any disease or disorder of the cardiovascular system or any complications thereof’.
