Getting to know us better – August 2022 recap
August 2022 marks a very special day for us, Cura’s 10 year anniversary! To celebrate in style, we closed the office early one day and all headed to the beach. Surrounded by the staff, family, friends and lots of lovely picnic food, we all had a great time. We even had a swim in the sea and a sandcastle competition!
Spreading the joy, we received some more great client feedback too:
“Reassuring, attentive and conscientious support and guidance
I was really impressed by how attentive and reassuring Cura were. I was assigned a specific advisor, and Vivek took a great deal of time to understand my requirements and situation, and to check he had the details correct. His research saved me so much time and frustration, and the communications from him and the team were prompt, clear and detailed. They chased up medical reports and insurers’ responses, and even filled in the applications with me, saving me so much time and effort. After a couple of knockbacks from insurers, they took time to find me a viable and suitable alternative. I cannot recommend them highly enough.” August, 2022.
Our donation for the month of August was made to Cancer Research UK, in memory of Sharon Bowes.
Jade – Marketing Executive
I began working for Cura in 2019 after finishing university and having no idea what I wanted to do. I started as an administrator and then moved on to be a marketing executive. I didn’t picture myself working within the insurance industry but at the moment, I couldn’t picture myself anywhere else. I am now responsible for the many blogs we post on the website, as well as help with editing the website, analytics, social media and much more.
When I’m not working, my favourite thing to do is go on holiday, I never stop talking about them and I can’t get enough of them! I really enjoy doing and seeing new things. I have also this year decided to push myself and I’m now studying towards a masters degree at uni, exciting!
Full English or Continental?
I’m a sucker for both, but continental if I had to pick one.
Holiday Abroad or ‘Staycation’?
Holiday abroad. I wouldn’t turn down the chance for a staycation, but I will always find an excuse to go abroad, even if it’s just for a weekend.
What’s the best place you’ve travelled to?
I recently went to Thailand for a few weeks backpacking around the islands, it was great. I would go back in a heartbeat.
If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Don’t You (Forget About Me), Simple Minds
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
Food, bug repellent and a boat (is that allowed?)
What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?
I enjoy making spontaneous plans or visiting Filey to see my family and friends.
Case study
A woman in her early 40s came to us with a need for income protection, to protect her income if she was unable to work due to illness. She had been diagnosed with anxiety just over a year before coming to us, which is when she also last experienced symptoms. She also received a diagnosis of acid reflux close to 10 years ago.
Her hobbies were the key thing that had made it difficult to find cover for herself. She took part in hill walking and caving. This hill walking was sometimes done as part of a group but also sometimes done solo, she took part in this in the UK and also had plans to go close to 2900 metres in Slovenia. She was a member of a caving club and would take part on average 20 times a year, to depths of around 300 metres.
We arranged an income protection policy which would cover her for £624 per month after a 26 deferment period, which would then increase to just under £2700 per month after 52 weeks. This was to match her sick pay levels. This covered her until the age of 70, with a monthly premium of less than £67.
