Signposting is such a valuable tool within the insurance industry, as there are so many different types of insurance that a person can specialise in. It could be that you’re excellent at wealth management but aren’t too fond of advising on protection insurance, or you could be great at protection insurance but not private medical insurance.
This is where signposting steps in, keeping your client happy as they will still be able to find the valuable protection that they need. Signposting is a huge part of how we can all prove to regulators that we are treating our customers fairly.
Having people who you trust for this is crucial as you want the best outcomes for your clients, and who you refer to will of course then reflect back on you. When we arrange a policy for someone we receive a commission from the insurer and if this happens with a client that you have sent our way, we will share some of this with you.
How to introduce clients to us in 5 simple steps
At Cura, we understand the importance of sourcing the correct cover for your clients, which is why we try to make it as simple as possible to introduce your clients to us when needed.
Cura is a protection insurance broker, specialising in ‘quirky’ cases. We have lots of experience in finding protection insurance for people with high risk occupations, extensive foreign travel, pre-existing health conditions and hazardous pastimes. Our team has provided insurance advice to people within the UK since 2005, and now also have some international clients too.

- Working as helicopter machine gunners, test car drivers and wildlife videographers,
- Travelling to Somalia, Iran and Moghadishu,
- Taking part in transatlantic sailing, ice climbing and skydiving hundreds of times a year.
We offer advise on a number of products, which are:
- Life insurance
- Critical illness cover
- Income protection
- Group protection
- Business protection
Though we have many people who signpost to us, we also signpost when necessary. We specialise in the products mentioned above and signpost to others when a client comes to us with other needs, such as a need for travel insurance, investments and pensions or private medical insurance.
Our simple referral process allows you to discuss your clients needs with our specialist advisers, to see what options may be available. Once you have introduced your client to us, our advisers and administrators remove the stress from your client’s application process, by handling all aspects of the underwriting journey, keeping your client up to date each and every step of the way.
It’s so simple that I have broken it down into 5 steps:
Step 1
Get in touch with us. You can give us a call, drop us an email or submit to us online through our dedicated IFA Centre webpage.
Step 2
We will then liaise with you, and provide an indication of potential terms that we have found.
Step 3
If you are happy with our advice and recommendation, we will then take this to the client.
Step 4
Once the application has gone through to underwriters, we will keep you and the client up to date throughout.
Step 5
Once the cover is in place, we pay you a percentage of the commission for the policy.
The majority of advisers who refer clients to us will have a contract set up directly with us. We are however a go to specialist for 9 networks, and if you are a part of one of these networks then there is no need for any extra contracts to be put in place.
There are a number of benefits of working with Cura. Once you have referred your client to us, we retain the advice liability, we don’t cross-sell any other products, meaning that you can still place the products which you feel able to do. We do all of the donkey work and once your client has been referred over we deal with all aspects of the application process, and keep you updated. Once a policy has started, you will then be paid a commission and most importantly, the client will have the correct cover to suit their needs.
