Pilots & Life Insurance
Being a pilot often doesn’t have a huge bearing upon your options for life insurance. There can be some things that can really change the right insurer for you and we are here to help.
Our advisers will ask you:- Do you fly commercially or in the military?
- Where do you usually fly to?
- How many air hours do you do each year?
We are often able to get standard terms for pilots wanting life insurance.
When applying for life insurance, pilots will need to be clear about the type of industry that they work in. If you are a part of the military it is best for you to look at out armed forces pages.
The insurer will be quite interested about any private flying you do too. They might want to know what type of aircraft you fly, the amount of hours you have flown to date and how much you expect to fly each year.If you are a helicopter pilot please be aware that your application may be looked at differently to that of an airplane pilot, with some insurers.
Our expert advisers are here to find the right insurance and best life insurance for you.Pilots & Critical Illness Cover
Critical illness cover pays out a cash lump sum of money, if you are diagnosed with a medical condition that is listed in the insurer’s claims set e.g. cancer, heart attack, stroke.
Critical illness cover for pilots is often available for commercial pilots at normal terms. This means no price increase or occupational exclusion.
There is one claimable condition on these policies called Total Permanent Disability, that you might find some insurers say isn’t available to you. This is where our award winning advisers can step in and make sure that you are getting the best contract possible.
If you are a pilot in them military please see our dedicated page for people in the armed forces.
Pilots & Income Protection
Income protection pays you a replacement of your monthly income, if you are unable to work due to ill health.
Income protection for pilots is possible but your choice of insurer is essential to make sure you get a quality contract.
A lot of insurers will not accept an application for income protection for a pilot, but our expert advisers know where to place your application to get your vital protection in place.
Pilots can sometimes have sick pay from their employer for up to 5 years if they are ill and unable to work. This is a brilliant employee benefit and income protection can kick in to provide financial support when the 5 years is over.
Most income protection policies start paying out after 12 months of you being unable to work, but, you can’t claim on the income protection policy whilst you are still getting pay from your employer. This is very complex insurance jargon and our advisers will take you through what this means.
