Getting to know us better – January 2023 recap
We’re now completely back into the swing of things and started the year as we mean to go on. Our team has been working as hard as ever, and have even been attending extra webinars between speaking with customers. There’s been a range of topics, from cervical cancer to employee wellbeing, all of which have been very interesting!
For our charitable donation of January, we supported Kellie Whetton, our Administration Manager, who completed 31 minutes of activity every day of January for Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
In this blog, we’re introducing one of Cura’s administrators, Charlotte.
Meet the team
Charlotte – Administrator
I’m Charlotte, I have worked at Cura just under a year and came here wanting a change from my previous customer facing role in banking. I was drawn to the job as I love to feel like I am helping people and making a difference and I love to learn so wanted a new challenge to get stuck into. Outside of work, you can find me on a long walk, in the pub or spending time with my one year old nephew.
Full English or Continental?
BOTH!! Pain au Chocolat, fruit, toast and jam then followed by a full fry up (without the black pudding!)
Summer or winter?
I would have my Christmas tree up all year if I could
Holiday Abroad or ‘Staycation’?
At the moment, staycation – I seem to be discovering some lovely places in the UK while on long weekends away this year – I’ve recently visited Llandudno as well as the Lake District for the first time this summer and want to explore Scotland next year
What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Always be honest if you don’t know how to do something as reaching out and having support to get it done right is better than muddling through it on your own, potentially making mistakes that you or others then have to spend extra time trying to correct.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to run away to the circus and be a juggler. Either that or be a tattooist (which I did actually do for a couple of years before realising it wasn’t what I thought it would be like!)
Do you have a favourite charity you wish more people knew about?
Any homeless charities – I did a lot of fundraising for End Youth Homelessness in my last job and educating people on the reasons behind why people can end up without a home was so important to break through the misconceptions that if you are homeless it is your own fault. I also took part in a Sleep Out event a few years ago (which involved sleeping in a cold warehouse one winter night on the concrete floor with nothing but a sleeping bag) to raise funds and awareness for the charity.
What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?
Long walks with my fiance (I’ve recently got engaged and referring to my partner as fiance feels very strange!) We both love walking round the coast where we live or planning longer routes round forests and new areas. We completed 20 miles a couple of weeks ago – our PB!
