Getting to know us better – Start of 2023
We had a great ending to 2022. Our team all got together for our annual Christmas party and we had a blast! After the past couple of years, it really was great to see everybody together having such a good time.
We hope everybody else enjoyed their festive period too, and have a Happy New Year! We’re starting 2023 as we mean to go on, our advisers and the rest of the team here at Cura are raring to go and we have lots planned for the year ahead!
Meet the team
Annaliese – Protection insurance adviser
I am a protection insurance adviser here at Cura and I have been here a little over a year now. My favourite part of the job is the feeling I get when I have been able to help someone who has struggled to get accepted for insurance previously (and it’s even better if we can get the insurance cheaper than expected!). The gratitude I receive from my clients truly is appreciated. Outside of work, I like to do things most people do, seeing friends and family, trips away and playing Xbox (I am still a child at heart).
Summer or winter?
Winter- What’s better than getting wrapped up in a blanket in front of the fire with a hot choccie, snacks and watching films?
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Steak. Literally could be steak on its own and I wouldn’t mind.
What’s your favourite memory?
Any Christmas period as a child, surrounded by my family at such a joyous time of the year.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a spy, the gadgets were super cool and you only really heard of them in films at that point. Now we all have a lot more access to gadgets on our phones etc. (Albeit, not as cool as spy gadgets but we’re getting close to it!)
Do you have a favourite charity you wish more people knew about?
WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). This is important to me as my favourite animal is a Tiger and my Grandparents kindly “adopted” a Tiger for me through WWF and I used to get the updates every couple of months on her and how we’re helping by sponsoring her. I loved it! They also encourage ‘Earth Hour’ to reduce our footprint and I remember being young running around the house ensuring everything was turned off to take part in it. I believe it’s a lot more well known now compared to back then luckily.
What’s your favourite dad joke?
What do you call a fish wearing a bowtie? Sofishticated.
Case study
A woman approaching 40 came to Cura needing protection insurance. Just over 4 years ago there had been a suicide attempt, due to her personal circumstances at the time. Since it was a singular occasion, there was no medication needed and no symptoms of mental health since the event.
After assessing her needs and making a recommendation, we arranged critical illness cover. This covered her for £70,000 if she happened to be diagnosed with a listed critical illness. The policy is set to last for 30 years and has a monthly premium of around £53. This means that this woman now has protection in place to payout a claim if she is diagnosed with cancer, heart attack, stroke, and a number of other conditions.
