Review of 2022 – Celebrating our success

We’re approaching the end of 2022, and what a year it has been!

At Cura, we really are passionate about fighting for access to insurance and making a difference within the protection insurance industry. Over the past year, there have been a number of things that we’re super proud of, which we think really do demonstrate our commitment.

The managing directors of Cura, Alan and Kathryn Knowles, were both mentioned in the Cover 25 Champions of Protection, which is great! This recognises them both as being contributors to the changes within the protection insurance industry over the past 25 years. 

To be a part of this, they both answered some great questions, such as:

• What is the biggest achievement you’re most proud of from your career in protection?

• How do you believe you are helping bring about positive change in the protection market?
• Why do you think you’ve been included as a protection champion?

On top of that, we have this year been shortlisted for and won several awards. 

At the start of 2022, we won the Outstanding Achievement Award in the Yorkshire Financial Awards, Kathryn also then went on to win Diversity & Inclusivity Champion of the year.

At the start of November, Alan had spent some time in London and had the opportunity to attend the Cover Excellence Awards. It was music to our ears when we found out that he wouldn’t be coming back to the office empty handed! We were shortlisted for a few awards, but went on to win:

• Leanne, Rising Star
• Kathryn, Intermediary of the Year
  
  

Our Customer Relations Adviser, Krystle,  won highly commended protection adviser too at the Protection Review Awards.

Whilst several of these awards are for individuals within Cura, we really do think what we do and achieve wouldn’t be possible without the support of the whole team. We have been super busy this year, and there have been several changes within Cura such as new departments and changing of job roles. Everything for the better to help us achieve what we set out to do!

As we have been committed to finding our clients the best possible protection insurance policy and educating people on what might be available, we often share case studies of our clients so that people can get a real idea of what they might come across. Each month we select a particular charity or fundraiser to focus our efforts on and donate towards. Below are just some of our donations of 2022:

• January 2022 – Filey Sea Cadets
• March 2022 – Supporting IFA, Phil Billingham, in his transportation of donations to Poland, in aid of the Ukrainian Refugee Crisis
• May 2022 – supporting Mark Bryant completing Ironman, for his Terminal to Triathlon project. 
• July 2022 – supporting Adrian Murphy taking part in 5 events, one being a 7-day Monster Triathlon for MND Scotland.
• October 2022 – Supporting Leanne Stancliffe walking 100 miles for Macmillan Cancer Support

I was really impressed by how attentive and reassuring Cura were. I was assigned a specific advisor, and Vivek took a great deal of time to understand my requirements and situation, and to check he had the details correct. His research saved me so much time and frustration, and the communications from him and the team were prompt, clear and detailed. They chased up medical reports and insurers’ responses, and even filled in the applications with me, saving me so much time and effort.
