NatiNational Stress Awareness Day 2022 – practically accessing insurance
There are many reasons why a person can feel stress, and it’s much more common than you might think. Having a feeling of stress is pretty normal, which is why National Stress Awareness Day takes place. The idea behind this is to let people know that they’re definitely not alone, and highlight ways that stress might affect people differently and what you might be able to do to manage it.
Some people think that a little bit of stress can be beneficial from time to time, as it might motivate you to get certain things done. But many others think stress has more negative effects. One of those effects being a lack of motivation, or worry about certain things.
It has been found that around 74% of people have been open about feeling stress to a point of not being able to cope. This can of course hinder day to day tasks being completed, but we want to give you the confidence to know that applying for protection insurance being one of those things.
Applying for protection insurance isn’t too difficult, especially if you go down an advised route and have the help of a protection insurance adviser. Though we appreciate it can be daunting if you have other things to be thinking about too.
One thing we pride ourselves on here at Cura is doing best by our clients, and fighting for access to insurance. That includes helping people as much as we can to overcome the reasons why they’ve not yet taken out valuable protection insurance.
We’ve come across people previously who have put off applying for protection insurance, as the potential stress of the application process wasn’t something they wanted to go through. This could be for a number of reasons including a diagnosis of stress, needing to discuss personal or family medical history, it can even be things such as being neurodiverse and finding the forms and documentation too much to consider. We’re here to say that there doesn’t necessarily need to be any stress of applying for insurance, we are here for you.
The initial thought of speaking about your personal circumstances with a complete stranger might not fill many people with joy, we completely understand that. But, nobody is here to judge, and there are a number of things we can do to help make the application process that little bit easier.
We often have clients preferring to speak with us in certain ways for whatever reasons, and there have been times where a person feeling stressed has requested to speak to us in a particular way too. It might be that you feel most comfortable speaking with a person on the phone and being able to hear their voice in conversation, that’s great. Or it could be that you would rather limit phone calls and communicate by email, again, we’re happy to accommodate, though there will be a couple of instances where a call might be needed to finalise things.
Also, if at any point you start getting advice from us and the process feels too much, or you don’t want to answer any questions, you simply say stop and everything will pause. You are in control.
Once you’ve had the initial conversations with an adviser, they’re then on hand to help with any questions throughout the whole process. Our advisers help with application forms and check the progress of your application with insurance companies. If a medical report is requested from your GP surgery for whatever reason, our team chases the progress of that too so that you can have the protection insurance you need as soon as possible.
Our job is to make getting your life insurance, critical illness cover and income protection policies in place as stress free and straightforward as can be. You tell us what we need to do to support you, so that you can feel as comfortable throughout the journey as possible.
If you do have any concerns about applying, or are wanting to have an initial call with one of our advisers to test the waters, we’re more than happy to help.
