Getting to know us better – July 2022 recap
We had some great weather by the coast in July, which makes us more thankful than ever for having such great office views and being able to walk to the beach from the office within minutes!
We recently had a little shuffle around at Cura, with a few members of staff in new roles which will allow us to help our clients even more. We strive towards keeping our clients happy, and we received some great feedback in July:
“Fabulous friendly professional service
Leanne Stancliffe is a genius. Leanne managed to find me life insurance when I was in despair and felt I had no option but to use one of the over 50 life plans and she managed to find me the insurance I wanted in just one day! I was blown away! Leanne is also lovely to speak to on the phone. I had a fab interesting chat with her. I am extremely impressed with the professional service I received and I highly recommend her for all your insurance needs. All the very best to you, Leanne, it was my utter pleasure!” Maeve, July 2022.
For July, we donated to MND Scotland, in support of Adrian Murphy taking part in 5 events, one being a 7-day Monster Triathlon to raise awareness of Motor Neuron Disease, a condition that his brother has. We followed his journey and the only words that feel right are ‘epic’ and ‘legend’.
Meet the team
Ellice – Executive Assistant
I started working with Cura as an Apprentice Administrator two weeks prior to the first national lockdown in 2020. I remember Alan speaking to me when it was first announced and he was confident when he said “we’ll make it work”. Somehow we did, I completed my apprenticeship roughly 15 months after starting and I am now Alan’s Executive Assistant.
My favourite part of the job is that no two days are the same, but we always strive for the same outcome – to insure everybody. Because of the nature of my role, I get to build quite good relationships with a lot of our clients over the weeks or months that we spend communicating with them. The satisfaction of knowing that we have provided our clients with the cover that they need is what makes it all worthwhile.
Holiday Abroad or ‘Staycation’?
Staycation. I want to see the world, but I love a spontaneous trip away for the weekend.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Mum’s homemade macaroni cheese with bacon bits on top and cheesy garlic bread on the side. And cake.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a Veterinary Nurse or Police Dog Handler.
What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I volunteer as an adult leader for Girlguiding UK.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The first time I drove a car on the motorway was two days after I passed my test. My dad was in the passenger seat and I was waiting to overtake another car – he told me that if I hesitate I’ll never get anywhere, if I have an opportunity to pull out then that’s what I need to do otherwise the opportunity is gone and I’m stuck indefinitely. So far I have managed to apply that to a lot more in life than just motorway driving – it’s the best advice he’s ever given me.
Case study
A woman in her early 30s approached us needing life insurance to protect her mortgage. She had been diagnosed with aortic regurgitation just over 5 years before coming to us, and had surgery for that. She now has a yearly follow up to check her heart. She had anxiety and depression as a result of the heart condition. There had also been 2 spinal disc operations over 5 years prior to coming to us and an operation to remove her appendix. We arranged a life insurance policy covering her for £124,000 for 21 years, with a monthly premium of less than £26.
