Home » Frequently Asked Questions » Can I get Life Insurance after a Heart Attack?
Answer:
This depends upon a number of factors such as the severity of the heart attack, the time since the episode and your age. Typically, you can apply for Life Insurance between 6 and 12 months after your heart attack.
If you have had a heart attack in a single vessel, then some Insurance Providers may consider offering you Life Insurance 1 to 2 months after the episode. The more vessels that were affected by the heart attack the higher your policy premiums are likely to become.
The Insurer will undoubtedly want to speak with your GP to get a full understanding of the circumstances of the heart attack and any lasting complications, before they offer terms to you. If you are under the age of 41 then it will be very difficult for you to find an Insurer willing to offer you cover.
